God Beneath My Wings!

Dear Dad,
(for juniors)
I must confess that as a very young child
I loved mom first for she always wore a smile
I thought that you were really unfair
Too strict, too tough, and too severe
Of course mom was firm when she had to be
But one stern look from you was enough for me
Now that I am older I do understand
That you must have loved me as much as mom
I know why your hands were calloused and rough
You worked truly hard to provide for us
Each day you toiled without complaint
Calm or storm, sun or rain
Those same arms which seemed stiff and unyielding
Were always there to protect and shield me
I may not have seen you cry or break down in tears
But you held me when I did because you cared
Even now when I look into your eyes
Beyond the wrinkles and lines, you wear a big smile
I can see your love shining strong and true
And Dad, I've come to love and cherish you too
From Your Loving Daughter.
